| Back in 1996, a company was born for the sole purpose of designing fun , free games for kids of all ages. That company is known as HyperActive Productions. It's history can be read here. The year was 1996. Joe Laurino had finally done it - he'd found a way to use all those game ideas he had come up with ! A little product called Klik N' Play made it all possible. Along with his cousin , Bryan Rodriguez, the two began to make games, which were posted nowhere. (They weren't all that good , so don't worry about it.) For almost 4 years, Joe practiced literally everyday. At 1998 , Joe bought a copy of the Games Factory. By the age of 14, he could basically do anything he wanted to do within the 2D realm. His first huge project was Legend of the Time Star , an action RPG , and it became a hit with his friends. After some quiet times, Joe re-opened the company officially in 2000, and registered the web domain that is still being used , www.hyperactiveproductions.net . With Joe as founder , and Bryan as co-founder , the two began again , this time accompanied by newcomer , but longtime friend Christopher Sun. In November of 2001 , Joe released JetPack Justice, Episode 1. The game recieved great acclaim. A sequel is currently in the works , titled JetPack Justice EX. Many games went into production during this time , all original titles - this included Project Nautilus and Snatch N' Dash. 2002 proved to be the most flourishing year for the company. HP recieved two new staff members - Mike Prete , an awesome artist and good friend of Joe, and Pio Canlas, the insanely talented programmer/spriter/artist. The two have helped out immensely during the course of their first year . Pio and Joe have teamed up many times during various projects . Their first product was Infection , which recieved amazing acclaim in 2003 and is installed on hundreds of computers across the world . The game is especially popular in Germany. Their most recent collaboration is Pi vs. Jo , a 2 player action shooter which is near completion. As 2003 draws to a close , the company continues to expand . During this current year, the company recieved Jon Gonzalez, another immensely talented artist , and released 2 titles. 2004 brought the company's biggest change. Even with the loss of Chris Sun and Jon Gonzalez , HyperActive Productions caught the eye of Anarchy Enterprises, who later on signed a non-exclusive distribution contract with them, giving them a vital tool they needed : a way to get their games out there on the market. With this new agreement, they vowed to make sure they spread their name across the land . This is the first step in making a name for themselves and their company ! And as long as Joe and Bryan have anything to say about it, HyperActive Productions will always make compelling games that their fanbase will enjoy. There's no where to go but up from here ! |
